I found out today I’ll be teaching in a school in the VERY centre of Seoul, not far from Seoul Central Train station and just above the river that runs through the city. I’ll be at a boys school (sigh), that also appears to be very academic- possibly one of the better schools in Seoul. Its name is Baemoon High.
This is about as much of a contrast from Shonan as I could get, and I’m sure it’ll be a new and exciting challenge (or not). Living in the heart of Seoul will certainly make saving money difficult.
In other news Blues have one three out of three at the start of their campaign to return to the promised lang (a.k.a. the Prem), while Hanshin have also been on a winning run.

Hope you like the banner! Looks like I’ll be heading to Seoul later than expected- at the start of September, meaning I’ve got an extra week back in good old Blighty. Then the blog will kick off again in earnest, with the intended focus firmly on photography as opposed to Hanshin Tigers/Birmingham City related rants.
Having said THAT, there will still be occasional updates on my two favourite teams, as well as stories from my new job and trips to various magical Korean places. The key thing for my time in Korea thought is saving cash- I’m planning to save 1,000,000 won a month, and by writing that target here hopefully I’m more likely to achieve it. We’ll see…

Wow, it’s all coming to a close. Today was my last day at Shonan, but since Sunday it’s all started to feel over. After an all-nighter in Okayama on Saturday night I was in an extremely fragile physical and mental state on Sunday, which didn’t help. Monday also became rather drunken, and everything has entered a state of unreality where the big things- like leaving my home of two years- don’t sink in, but the little things- my last trip to Nishina Supermarket, meeting friends for the last time, and today going down to the Kojima coast to have a beer and watch the sun go down- do hit home.
I’m saying goodbye to best friends tomorrow, then getting a Shink to Tokyo for two nights before flying home. But this is the end of SteveSaysKanpai! I hope you’ve enjoyed it all…

Well, after a week and a half of long lunches and drunken escapading my time in Japan is finally drawing to a permanent close. I’ve had a great last week, meeting friends, saying goodbye to many people. Hopefully some will come and visit me in Seoul- Yukata and Kawabe of Kojima Krash Japan fame might be coming over, as might Masashi Kawahara and other members of the Shonan gang. While there is definately excitement at being back home, and future adventures, it’s also extremely sad to leave what has definately become my home. As I’ve been saying all weeek, 日本は心の中にいつもあります。
Last pictures to come…
