I’ve got so caught up in the start of the Hanshin Tigers season, I’ve been neglected my original sporting passion- football and Birmingham City FC. I rejoin the subject at a crucial juncture- City, with 3 games to play, are 1 point ahead of 3rd placed team Sheffield United. As you know, 2nd and 1st get promoted to the Prem. The table as is is…

1. Wolves – 83pts (GD 26)

2. Blues – 77 pts (GD 16)

3. Sheffield – 76pts (GD 25)

4. Cardiff – 73 pts (GD 22) – One Extra Game

5. Reading – 70 pts (GD 29) – One Extra Game

Our remaining games are Watford (A), Preston (H) and Reading (A). On Easter Monday we drew 1-1 with Plymouth after having goalkeeper Maik Taylor sent off, and Liam Ridgewell taken off with a now-confirmed broken leg.

We’re up against it, and our goal difference doesn’t help in a fight that could well come down to the wire, and the last day of the season’s game away at Reading. We need a result this weekend against Watford. Kick off is 3pm (11pm Seoul time), Saturday.
