Hanshin Tigers 4 Orix Buffaloes 0
If the feel good factor was up a bit after the surprise 3-2 victory over Ma-Kun’s Eagles, it’s well and truly flowing now. Tonight we beat the Orix 4-0 at home- an expected, or at least hoped for result, but taken care of with style.
It took us a while to get going, but when we did it was new signing Brazelle who sent the ground wild with a sixth innings 2-run homer. Then in the eigth it was Brazelle again who got a string of hits going, with Kanoh finally sending the runners home with a two baser.
The result belied the fact that Orix had actually got a number of hits in the early stages, but failed to convert. Still, although they got some hits, Shimoyanagi took care of things well, and the relief- Atchison for the eighth and Fujikawa for the ninth, were comprehensive. Not all good- Arai and Toritani were both hitless, but the day belonged to Brazelle, who in the hero interview, along with the usual meaningless phrases, seemed genuinely impressed by the fever-pitch atmosphere in Koshien.
Bring on tomorrow- lets get that first whitewash series!
