A beautiful film by Nanni Moretti that follows an Italian families grief and attempts to come to terms with the loss of their teenage son. Everything I’d like to say about this movie is contained in the original article that drew me to it, by Peter Bradshaw of The Guardian. That paper voted it the 6th best film of the decade, and it won the 2001 Palme d’Or at Cannes; to my mind it deserves accolades for being so simple yet beautiful.
