Hiroshima Carp 4 Tigers 6 (Game 2)

(Mazda Zoom Zoom Stadium)

Preview: Yesterday was a great success- in fact, it brought up this hilarious stat. Mench (remember him? Last season’s flop)- 54 at bats, 8 hits, 2 RBIs. Murton- 16 at bats, 8 hits, 2 RBIs. See the difference? That’s right, 38 games! Murton and Brazell really made the biggest contribution, but runs came from through the team- lets hope for a tighter pitching performance today, and even more hits! Sekimoto in for Hirano.

Team Lineup (in batting order):

1. Murton (C)
2. Sekimoto (2)
3. Toritani (SS)
4. Kanemoto (L)
5. Arai (3)
6. Johjima (Ca)
7. Brazell (1)
8. Sakurai (R)
9. Kubo (P)

Battery: Kubo -> Kubota -> Tsutsui -> Fujikawa / Johjima

Analysis: Another victory! This one came at a slightly closer margin, in runs and hits. We still looked dominant though- three hits each from Arai and Brazell, and a hit and a home run from Kanemoto! Good to see him off the home-run mark. Murton and Johjima were quiet today. Kubo more or less did his job, and then the relief took over and did a good job. I still worry about playing the better teams in the league, due to our starters and their ability to be smacked around by good batters. However up until now one couldn’t really have asked for more- let’s see if we can clean sweep the series tomorrow, both for the win-ratio and as a mark of intent. This is essential against “lesser teams” like the Baystars and the Carp. Tomorrows game is very important…
