安心タイガース!Dragons win 6-0 on HRs, but Tigers take the victory

球児セーブ Fujikawa saves the Tigers in the eighth and ninth

火曜から東京本拠地へ!Series at the Dome beckons!

The Tigers won a crucial game today thanks to just enough at just the right times. Chunichi will be wondering how they lost this, having hit six homers throughout the game. In truth, though, it was a close game. Early on the Dragons leapt into a 4-1 lead, before the Tigers had an excellent second- getting four runs from some poor pitching for a gyakuten 5-4 lead. Runs were traded in the fifth and sixth, before two home runs off Kubota in the eighth set up a tense finale. Kyuji came in and dispatched the remaining batsmen in the eighth- he was then walked in the Tigers’ ninth as we had a chance to add to our tally. But it was not to be, and it was left to Kyuji to return in the bottom of the ninth to remove the Dragons batters.

This is exactly the sort of game the Tigers would have lost last season, and exactly the type of close encounter they need to win if they are to be Champions. July has been an excellent month for us- now we go into the “death road” of August- let’s hope we can continue our good form. Next up- 3 games at Tokyo Dome, against the Yomiuri Giants. Obviously this is a massive series, and I should be able to watch at least the first two games. Bring it on!
