CHUNICHI DRAGONS 2 HANSHIN TIGers 2
引き分け! DRAWN GAME AFTER OVER FIVE HOURS
ブラゼル退場! CONTROVERSY AS BRAZELL SENT OFF
能見一軍復帰! NOHMI RETURNS FROM INJURY
The first two games left this mini-series evenly poised. In the first game, a battle of the pitchers had seen Standridge shade it over Chen, and Tigers claim a 1-0 victory. Standridge has been a revelatory signing this season, and has definitely become our ace pitcher. The second game saw a typical Jekyl and Hyde performance, with Messenger performing terribly and Tigers succumbing to a 10-1 defeat.
This game was more akin to the first in the series. Both teams were evenly matched on hits and chances. Nohmi pitched pretty well. In 7 innings he allowed 9 hits and got 10 SOs. It was good to see him back and hopefully we can pick up a couple of wins off his starts in the run-in to the Climax Series. Tigers clung on to take a single run in the bottom of the ninth, tying the score at 2-2. Hiyama’s hit looped over the infielder, and just landed short of the outfielder, allowing our runner Fujikawa to get home.
Controversy came in the bottom of the tenth. With bases loaded, Asai was caught in the infield, the runner on third got home, but Brazell was tagged out at first base. He was adamant his was safe, and replays proved this to be the case. Brazell was ejected from the game for his passionate protests, and the game went into its eleventh innings. From then on, there weren’t many chances, but it really felt like we’d been robbed of an important victory.
